Props to Verizon Wireless
So I just got a call from Verizon Wireless. The lady on the phone told me that I was way over my minute total and that I would owe an extra $150 dollars by end of my current billing cycle. I was slightly flabbergasted, but I did not fall off my chair.
Well instead of sticking something hot and sharp in my butt, something many companies have no problem doing. She offered me two options, the first was to upgrade me to a plan with more minutes-per-month which would cost me an extra 20 dollars per month or she could simply switch me to Verizon Nationwide plan, which would give me an extra 500 free minutes this month(effectively saving me 150 dollars), but would not change my service plan – other than something relating to Mobile Web which I don’t use and in name from America’s Choice to Nationwide – at all.
I had actually gotten a text from Verizon earlier, which I ignored, but I guess they could not stand with me having to pay such exorbitant overage charges especially since my contract expires later this month, so they kept trying to reach me. I wasn’t planning to leave Verizon and actually, switching to this plan does not extend my contract, but now I am more likely to stay with Verizon in the future. And ahoy, here I am blogging about it.
In all seriousness, Verizon’s actually been straight with me throughout the years. When I had some errors on my bill, their customer service peeps were always willing to remove the charges. And even though the interface on my Rzr sucks(3 button taps to get to the alarm, even after I make the down key shortcut to Tools..booooooo!) – I’ve been happy with their phones and more importantly the reception.
On the ‘net and in real life people are generally more likely to complain about the crappy lot they get from big companies than to give kudos for the positive experiences they have. Well, I don’t think that should be so. Companies, even big corporations do do good things. Therefore here I am commending Verizon for their stellar customer service.
