The Political Guy and I Run.

6:18 PM 5/22/2007

Yes, you’ve caught me once again, friendly but stern visitor. I didn’t run yesterday. I confess, I’m in a bit of rut. But alas, I’m clambering out of it in grand style. Today, I took my twin brother Igor (the political guy…I’m the artistic guy, I think):

…out with me on my run. I decided to run the same route I ran last time, up the side of the LA River through the desert park till Oxnard etc. except today I was planning on going two blocks further. Usually I’ve done my runs alone, so it was very strange to have another set of footsteps always next to me. It was a bit disconcerting actually; it made it harder to maintain a strict pace; each time Igor would get slightly ahead, I’d get the urge to run a little faster. Sort of a competitive drive, but it was an unconscious/instinctual feeling, we weren’t racing at all. So we make it up to Oxnard and begin to run west, and what do you know. Igor must walk!

He has an excuse, he hasn’t been running regularly for a month like me, but it still irritated me a little. I wanted to go the whole way, get a new pe-p under my belt, not to happen today. He started walking and I didn’t want to leave him behind, so I began to do a jog-walk type thing. Surprisingly enough, it was really good exercise for the calves, like a Stairmaster almost. Before long the calves were burning, and it felt like I was getting a workout even though I wasn’t running, maybe I’ll even be sore tomorrow, oh boy!

I did do a little running, to the end of the block and back etc. but didn’t really get back into the rhythm of a regular run for the rest of the workout today. But what can you do? We had a good walk in any case…Talked about how Igor’s thinking about starting a political blog. He’s a clever guy (not just because he’s my brother though :O) ), so if he decides to go ahead with it, I’ll subscribe. Will keep you posted.

Tomorrow in the morning, he agreed to go running with me. It’ll be a little while before he catches up to where I am (not that long, really) if he begins to run regularly, in the meantime I’ll probably be leaving him behind and coming back to walk with him after I run an approximate equivalent of my usual run pounding the pavement somewhere out front.

Nice weather today. The heat starts to drop off around five, so it’s a good time to go out for a run. Still, mornings are the best time. Less opportunity to procrastinate and a bit of the cool air makes for the feeling of chopping through the air. I like that.

Okay for today. Till tomorrow (on the running front).

ILR level=29

Good run, good fun!

p.s. – Still going to post a Random Goodness Tuesday article a little later. Make sure to check back on that when I do. Might be late at night, so make sure to look out for it in the morning if you miss it tonight.

p.s.s. – Yesterday’s article made it into the Festival of Frugality #75 under “behavior modification,” I even got a little yellow star. If I was in elementary school I would put it on my forehead and parade around showing it off! (and if you haven’t already folks, go thank JD of http://www.getrichslowly.org for hosting the Festival), I’m yet to do a deep read-through of the entries, but I do look forward to that after rehearsal today.

btw, Welcome to all the new visitors that’ve mosied my way today. Hope you enjoy the blog. Thanks for watering your horses at my blog. (I seem to be in a Western mood today…Quick! Somebody throw me a Stetson hat and saddle..)

Come on back now, ya’ll hear?

Now you know how I felt when Lasondra started running with me. It was weird at first, but then I got used to it. Its cool because we get to have nice little conversations. Sometimes they get philosophical. You didn’t post Igor’s IlR level LOL….aww, he’s back to one. I remember my day one. Tell him I said wassup bro and congrats on the running. Its fun!
