New Pe-p, Updates on ERR and Disgruntled Lemur

05/20/2007

Today, I procrastinated like crazy all morning. I guess I don’t like running as much as I purport to. Still I went and did it, granted, it wasn’t morning anymore.

So I ran to a new pe-p today. Made a spur-of-the-moment decision to run through the little park road by the LA River (the smell of hamster cages was only slight today). I really enjoyed the park! It still looks like a desert, but the road is nice and firm, and its a path I have never taken, so I got to see the backs of houses which was interesting. I took this park road all the way to Oxnard, till I was on the corner of Oxnard and Coldwater Canyon, then I turned right, ran to Ethel, back down to Victory and home. This is all Latin to most everybody reading this but don’t worry, I’ll post a map tomorrow.

The fact that I didn’t run on Thursday and today’s annoying procrastination all lead me to believe that I’m in a bit of a rut when it comes to ILR. I’ve narrowed the problem to getting started. Once I’m out there running, everything is great, I have an awesome time being fit, but before I get going, I just don’t feel like it. Re-reading this article on Persistence got me a bit more motivated. After the run, especially while I write this I realize that it IS worth it. Health is awesome. Tomorrow, I don’t procrastinate.

In other news:

- I’ve decided not to launch the six-pack-ab program just yet. At this point I’ve got enough on my plate to keep myself occupied.

- Also, the ERR program has been on-and-off lately, I still wake up early every morning, just not necessarily at 6:30AM like my alarm wants me to. It’s just too hard to drag myself out of bed at 6:30AM if was partying the night before and went to sleep close to two. When this goes down on a few consecutive nights, 6:30AM is just a dream. I know that I could get down to 6:00AM if I curtail my late nights, but I’m still a young guy and I happen to like going out with friends or working in the theatre (these are sometimes the same thing), or whatever I end up doing later then 11 or 12. During the week, I spend more evenings at home, so waking up in the morning is fine, but during weekends it’s difficult. I’m currently reworking the ERR program to be more intuitive to the ebb and flow of my life. Being an early riser is still a priority for me, I love the benefits, but it cannot be maintained in it’s strictest sense (waking up at a prescribed time every single morning).

- Get Rich Slowly A blog I’m subscribed to, is hosting the 75th Festival of Frugality. I’ve had a personal finance article idea that I’ve been saving for a Random Goodness Tuesday some time in the future, but I think I’ll write it up and submit it. Maybe it’ll get selected.

Finally, as promised. Here is a disgruntled-looking lemur:

ILR level=28

Till tomorrow. Good run, good fun!
